The Medical Faculty of Ulm University invites applications for a position of a
Junior Professorship (W1-Prof. without Tenure Track) (f/m/d)
in the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Trauma Immunology
One focus of the Institute is translational trauma research. The future post holder should represent the entire range of questions of local and systemic trauma response and resulting organ damage. In particular, the focus will be on the cellular danger response as well as post-traumatic barrier disruption and resulting damage to solid organ systems such as the kidney, intestine and adipose tissue.
Close interdisciplinary cooperation with other university institutions active in trauma research at the University of Ulm and the University Hospital Ulm is expected, especially within the SFB1149 and the DZNE based in Ulm.An existing network of the post holder in international cooperation on trauma research is expected and should be expanded within the framework of the professorship.In the future, the professorship will complement the scientific concept of the Multidimensional Trauma Sciences (MTW) research building, which is currently under construction.
The teaching duties include teaching courses for students of human medicine and molecular medicine. Commitment to teaching and active participation in the establishment and implementation of new teaching concepts, e.g. in the special teaching format Trauma Track in Human Medicine and Molecular Medicine, is expected.
The appointment is made as a temporary civil servant or employee, usually for a fixed term of six years. An extension is not possible except in the cases of § 45 VI LHG BW.
In addition to the general requirements under civil service law, the requirements for employment include a completed university degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular medicine, or related subjects, pedagogical aptitude, and a special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by the outstanding qualification of a doctorate (§ 51 II LHG). And a publication record that supports the notion of scientific excellence. Research experience in the above-mentioned subject areas is also essential. Previous work in the field of multi-organ failure is welcome.
