University of HohenheimStuttgart-Hohenheim
The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Hohenheim is in the process of installing one
new professorship to further strengthen their fields of research in Animal and Plant Sciences
The following position will be filled for the first time in the winter semester 2017/2018:
(W1 WITH TENURE TRACK)
OF PHYSIOLOGY OF YIELD STABILITY
at the Institute of Crop Sciences.
The successful candidate will teach physiology of yield stability of crops and the application of pertinent molecular
methodologies in breeding and agronomy in the study programs of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at
the Bachelor and Master level both in German and in English.
The research focus should be on modern molecular tools in the breeding of crops and their relevance for
cultivation. We are looking for a candidate who combines physiological and -omics-based high-throughput
and molecular genetic techniques such as genome editing technology, and who will advance their use in
crop research. The molecular and physiological basis of yield stability should be investigated on the basis of
systemoriented or hypothesis-driven research - preferably on crops and breeding material -, e.g. under abiotic
or biotic stresses.
The successful candiate is expected to contribute to the Regional Research Alliance „Yield Stability in Dynamic
Environments“, which is a network of plant researchers at the University of Hohenheim, the University
of Tübingen and the MPI of Developmental Biology Tübingen. Cooperation with other groups as well with
the interdisciplinary research centers of the University of Hohenheim is envisioned. In addition to laboratory
experiments and green house trials, the Experimental Station of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the
University of Hohenheim makes it possible to carry out extensive field trials.
More detailed information on the main research and teaching foci of the professorships as well as the necessary
qualifications of candidates can be found on our Professorial Appointment Portal
