At the Universität der Künste Berlin, the following position is available in the College of Architecture, Media and Design – Institute of Product and Process Design:
Junior professor – pay group W 1
limited to 3 years, extension by an additional 3 years is possible
The junior professorship is to be funded in the context of the Einstein Center Digital Future. The professorship is offered under the reserve that funds are granted.
In collaboration with other Berlin universities and research institutions, various aspects of the digital transformation will be explored. Within the Einstein Center Digital Future, new professors will strengthen the academic community of Berlin in the field of digitalization. In this context the Berlin University of the Arts has developed the Berlin Open Lab, a space for reflection and research, and a place of experimental digital fabrication in the design disciplines. New forms of interaction with technologies will be created and explored holistically as technological-economical-sociological artefacts.
Internet of Things
4 course hours (for the first 3 years, 6 course hours from the 4th year)
Instruction and research on concepts of interaction design related to the Internet of things as new forms of human-technology interaction; testing and development of creative/experimental and technological prototypes of networked systems (hardware and software); artistic and academic reflection of the technological evolution and its consequences in the field of Physical Computing, Interaction Design and the Internet of things; establishment of the Berlin Open Lab at UdK cooperating with partners from the Einstein Center Digital Future through new formats of teaching and research; participation in academic self administration.
Completed degree in higher education in design or a related field, completed doctorate or several years of experience in artistic-academic research in the field of design research or a related discipline; relevant list of publications; paedagogical and didactical skills and experience; very good English language skills. Qualifications for employment in accordance with § 102a BerlHG.
