Junior professor - salary grade W1
in the field of "Industry Grade Networks & Clouds". The professorship is funded by Deutsche Telekom AG - Telekom Innovation Laboratories.

Working field: Research and development in the areas of information and communication technology and its application.
In the framework of the cooperation with the Telekom Innovation Laboratories, an An-Institut of TU Berlin, teaching and research
are to be strengthened in the area of "Industry Grade Networks & Clouds". Its focus lies on the research and development of methods
and technologies for linking industrial and process automation with secure global communication and private clouds, which will involve
adapting software-defined network technologies and network function virtualization to the demands of global applications in industry.
The position requires a deep level of expertise in the protocols and standards used by industry, to derive the demands for latency and
security requirements. At the same time, the position involves leading a research group at Deutsche Telekom Laboratories at TU Berlin.
Requirements: Candidates must meet the requirements of the Berlin Higher Education Act (§ 102a BerlHG), including a
completed academic education, qualified achievements in research, usually proven by an outstanding doctoral thesis (PhD), educational and
didactic competences, to be proven by a teaching portfolio (for more information see TUB Website, quick as no. 144242). The successful
candidate is expected be a recognized expert in the area of automation technology and IT. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be
capable of collaborating with related disciplines, leading larger groups of researchers and organizing complex projects. Experience in the
acquisition of research contracts in industry and from public funding agencies is also desirable. Willingness to take an appropriate share
of teaching the study programs supported by the faculty is expected. The successful candidate will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge
and experience in at least one of the following areas of research:
Industrial networks and their interfaces to wide area networks (automation technology (protocols, methods), widespread industry
protocols (such as OPC-UA), security requirements and standards for process automation)
Major paradigms and applications in M2M and IoT, as well as SDN
Cloud computing (paradigms and relevant standards)
Applicants must be able to conduct their lectures in both German and English.
