Chemical and Process Engineering Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
We are seeking qualified applicants for teaching and research
in the area of life-cyle assessment for sustainable industrial processes
in energy and chemical conversion based on closed material
cycles. The starting date is as soon as possible. The junior
professorship will be established at the Institue of Technical
Thermodynamics. The professorship should develop a futureoriented
research program for sustainable technology and product
life cycles in the domain of the RWTH profile area "Energy,
Chemical and Process Engineering". The applicant should have
core expertise in the development of methods for life-cyle
assessment for sustainable industrial processes in energy and
chemical conversion based on closed materials cycles. Here,
closing the carbon cycle via carbon dioxide utilization is of particular
relevance. The application should show the potential to
complement the research line by an innovative teaching portfolio.
We expect experience in interdisciplinary research and the
acquisition of research funding. The duration of the junior professorship
is limited to 3 years and can be extended by additional
3 years after a positive interim evaluation.
You should have a completed university degree and a special
aptitude for scientific work which is generally verified by means
of an outstanding doctorate. Ability in and commitment to teaching
are essential. The application should include supporting
documents regarding success in teaching. German is not necessary
in the beginning but will be expected as a teaching language
within 5 years.
The applicant should have substantial experience in the application
and development of methods for quantitative sustainability
assessment based on life-cyle assessment for the energy
and chemical industries. Industrial experience in one of these
sectors is therefore highly desirable. In addition, excellent
knowledge of thermodynamics and a strong technical background
for energy and chemical engineering are essential. We
