W1 Junior Professorship for Clinical Neuropsychology with Focus on Epilepsy Research

Bielefeld University is currently developing an innovative Faculty of Human Medicine with an interdisciplinary focus on individual and population medicine. Teaching is scheduled to begin in the winter semester 2021/22. Clinical training will take place in cooperation with specialized clinics of various hospitals of the University Hospital OWL of Bielefeld University, which is currently being established.
As holder of the professorship, you actively participate in the development of the medical research profile of Bielefeld University. A strong focus is placed on ”Medicine for People with Disabilities and Chronic Diseases“. We expect the willingness to participate in the development of this research profile. In particular, we would like to see an intensive willingness to cooperate in one of the currently planned research areas:

Own work priorities in these areas are advantageous.
When building up the Faculty of Medicine, you will work closely with the founding dean, the dean's office and lecturers from the other disciplines. In addition, co-optation with the Faculty of Psychology and Sports Science is planned for structural integration.
The appointment is initially limited to three years with the possibility of extension for a further three years after a positive interim evaluation. The evaluation procedure is regulated in the Bielefeld ”Guidelines for Junior Professorships“.
The future jobholder represents clinical neuropsychology in research and teaching. The research focus of the applicant should be in the field of neuropsychology. In the future, a focus on epilepsy research is expected. Experience in this area would be an advantage.
The infrastructure of the Society for Epilepsy Research and the Mara Hospital (Clinic for Epileptology) of the von Bodelschwinghschen Stiftungen Bethel can be used for research work by the professorship.
In teaching, contributions to relevant modules in medicine and psychology are expected.
Requirements for the position are:
a relevant university degree in medicine or psychology
a qualified doctorate
relevant teaching and research experience

The process of building up the Faculty of Human Medicine at the Bielefeld location offers a great deal of creative freedom and is associated with a variety of challenges. We would like to offer these professorships to people who will creatively and ambitiously contribute to this development in research and teaching.
