Reference No. 2023/024. The Department of History, Sociology, Sports Science and Empirical Educational Research, Faculty 2, seeks to fill this position by October 1, 2023. The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy. The position holder should represent the field of early childhood development and promotion in research and teaching. The research focus should be in motor development, or promotion of physical activity in early childhood. Research interests may relate to: a) Relationship of motor development to the child's cognitive, emotional, motivational, and/or social skill development b) Conditions and promotion (in the family, early childhood educational institutions) for successful (motor) development processes c) The role of physical activity, and nature experiences for healthy development in a digitalized world d) Predictors of health-promoting sport and exercise behavior The ability to connect to research topics of Sports Science and/or Empirical Education Research in Constance is desired. Depending on the research focus of the position holder, the position will be assigned to the research group Empirical Educational Research or Sports Science. A doctoral degree in psychology, sport science or educational science/empirical educational research or in related subjects is required. The future position holder is expected to be active in research and teaching in the context of the binational master's program "Early Childhood". The Master's program is part of a cooperation between the University of Konstanz and the Thurgau University of Teacher Education (https://www.phtg.ch/de/studium/master-fruehe-kindheit/).
