Federal States - 21 tenure-track junior professorships will be advertised. Currently, we are in search of eligible candidates for the following tenure-track junior professorship
at the Faculty of Educational Sciences:
Junior Professor in
"Digital teaching and learning in a school context"
(Salary Class Group W1 LBesO W - with Tenure Track as per W2)
The junior professorship should focus on the research, development, use and evaluation of digital teaching and learning arrangements in school contexts. The research should be empirically oriented and embedded in international research networks. One of the core tasks of the professorship is the development of an internationally competitive research program for the use of technology-based teaching and learning in educational contexts.
The junior professorship is part of the Faculty of Education. In the context of the research platform "Education in the digital world" (ForBilD), the professorship further develops its research approaches in a creative manner and actively contributes to the design and further development of the research platform, contributing specifically an educational-scientific perspective.
We are looking for a personality distinguished by outstanding research in at least two of the four following areas:
theory and implementation of technology-based teaching / learning arrangements in educational institutions (preferably in the school context),
empirical research in the context of technology-based teaching / learning arrangements in educational institutions,
development and didactic use of innovative educational technologies (preferably in the school context),
impact research of technology-based teaching and learning in educational institutions.
The research profile should offer possibilities for interdisciplinary connections (especially for the educational sciences). Readiness for active participation in intra-faculty and interdisciplinary research contexts is expected.
The professorship will participate in the teaching for all teacher training courses (Bachelor and Master programs) at the University of Duisburg-Essen. A high degree of commitment in teaching and curriculum development of the teacher training courses of the University of Duisburg-Essen is expected. The Faculty of Education will welcome a participation of the position holder in the development of a digitization concept for its courses.
Publications in the field of expertise in peer-reviewed journals are expected, especially in leading international journals.
Experience in the procurement of competitive third-party funding, involvement in international research and international experience are desirable. Furthermore, leadership experience in research is beneficial.

The hiring requirements comply with § 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (HG).
Teaching requirements currently are four hours of teaching during the first, and five hours of teaching during the second employment stage of the Junior Professorship. Employment is contingent on the presentation of the corresponding requirements for temporary civil service. The duration of employment complies with § 39 Sect. 5 HG.
