at the Faculty of Engineering:
Junior Professor in
"Computational Methods in Modeling and Analysis of Learning Processes"
(Salary Class Group W1 LBesO W - with Tenure Track as per W2)
Candidates for this position should be able and well prepared to represent the area of "Education in a Digital World" in academic teaching and research from the perspective of Computer Science. We are seeking persons with an excellent, internationally recognized record in the development and application of computational methods for the modeling and analysis of human learning processes. The following subfields are of special interest: Learning Process Modeling / Learning Design, Educa-tional Data Mining, Sensor Technology and Analytics in the context of monitoring and steering of learning processes (both, e.g., using eye-tracking), Semantic Technologies for Knowledge Modeling and Knowledge Diagnosis.
This junior professorship is part of the Engineering Faculty and is linked to the recently formed re-search platform "Education in the Digital World" (ForBild)in which researchers from Computer Sci-ence, Psychology, Educational Sciences and the Humanities cooperate closely on an interdisciplinary basis. In this dynamic, cross-faculty working context, the professorship develops its research ap-proaches creatively and contributes actively to the strengthening of the research platform from the Computer Science perspective. The professorship should also cooperate with the DFG-funded Re-search Training Group on "User Centred Social Media" with a strong interdisciplinary orientation between Computer Science and Psychology. Accordingly, we expect a specific interest in interdisci-plinary research as well as the willingness and competence to combine approaches from Computer Science with psychological/empirical research methods.
The professorship should substantially contribute to complementing and deepening the existing teaching portfolio in the area of developing and analysing interactive and cooperative learning envi-ronments. Course offerings should particularly reflect the needs of the established study programs KOMEDIA and Applied Computer Science and should include practice projects.
Publications in the field of expertise in peer-reviewed journals are expected, especially in leading international journals.
Experience in the procurement of competitive third-party funding, involvement in international research and international experience are desirable. Furthermore, leadership experience in research is beneficial.

The hiring requirements comply with § 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (HG).
Teaching requirements currently are four hours of teaching during the first, and five hours of teach-ing during the second employment stage of the Junior Professorship. Employment is contingent on the presentation of the corresponding requirements for temporary civil service. The duration of employment complies with § 39 Sect. 5 HG.
