invites applications for the position of a
W1 Junior / Assistant Professor in Social Psychiatry
The post will be part of the Section of Public Mental Health (Head: Prof. N. Rüsch). The postholder will teach social psychiatry to medical and psychology students and be active in research.
The candidate should have a strong track record documented by publications and/or research funding in the field of social psychiatry. Research topics include: social and cultural factors in the development and course of mental illnesses as well as in help-seeking, employment, social integration or suicidality. Experience with intervention research, longitudinal studies, model development of sociocultural factors affecting health (behaviors) and with measure development is desirable.
The postholder is expected to cooperate with colleagues in the Department of Psychiatry II (health services research), with the Section of Public Mental Health (stigma research) as well as with other departments in the university (e.g. on trauma and mental illness). Interdisciplinary projects in cooperation with other departments of psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, psychosomatics, psychological medicine, epidemiology and the department of psychology are welcome. Likewise we expect the candidate to pursue existing and establish new international cooperations.
You have a Master‘s degree or equivalent in medicine, psychology, public health, social sciences or related fields; have teaching skills, usually indicated by previous teaching experience; and have research skills indicated by a PhD project of outstanding quality. Experience with working abroad and with international research cooperations is welcome. Good German language skills are required.
The selection and employment procedure is based on the regulations laid down by university law regarding the appointment of professors.
The appointment will initially be on the basis of a temporary civil servant status or on an employee status for three years. Following a positive evaluation, there will be a further three years‘ extension. There will be no further extension.
