We are looking for a new head of the Competence Center Energy Policy and Energy Markets at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research.
What you will do
- You will head the Competence Center Energy Policy and Energy Markets and are therefore responsible for the topics, staff and finances in a core area of Fraunhofer ISI. You will lead the heads of the business units in your Competence Center and support them with regard to their integration into the institute as a whole.
- You will support your colleagues in developing their careers and are responsible for guiding and developing the team.
- You will play a key role in advising national and international clients from politics, business and society. You will actively contribute to the national and international discourse on energy and climate policy and will represent ISI’s position on these issues to the outside world and vis-à-vis other institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
- You will contribute your scientific ideas and expertise and use your creative leeway to further develop your CC in terms of strategies, topics, methods and organization as well as set new focal points and implement these dynamically and successfully within the scope of the institute’s self-image.
- You will work closely and professionally with the heads of the other CCs and the institute directors on further developing Fraunhofer ISI and its strategies.
- You will be responsible for general acquisitions and for coordinating acquisitions in your CC and with other CCs. You will manage and work on research and consulting projects, and support your colleagues in their project work.
- You will contribute to scientific knowledge gain, also through academic publications, and play an active role in the relevant national and international academic communities.
What you bring to the table
- You have completed a PhD and may have other scientific qualifications in the social or natural sciences, economics or engineering.
- You have extensive experience at the intersection of research and applications in the context of the energy system and in energy and climate policy issues.
- You are experienced in contract research, in cooperating with companies, international cooperation, and policy consultation. You have extensive experience in acquiring research projects from different types of clients.
- You are familiar with the processes, networks and forums in politics, business and civil society, and are experienced in communicating scientific results.
- You have sound knowledge of the relevant methods and experience in developing methods in an interdisciplinary context.
- You are experienced in leading interdisciplinary teams, and have demonstrated your leadership skills, including the ability to motivate others, develop their skills and integrate them.
- You work effectively and cooperatively in interdisciplinary and international teams.
- Your academic output matches the opportunities and challenges of this position.
- Very good German and English language skills are a must.

The position is limited to 2 years to start with, but aimed at a permanent contract.The weekly working time is 39 hours.
