new approaches in application-oriented mathematics. The focus is on mathematical
foundations for the use of ever larger amounts of data in the life and materials sciences,
energy and network research or the humanities and social sciences. The aim is to promote
not only scientific progress but also technological innovation and a comprehensive
understanding of social processes. MATH+ will fund six positions for heads of independent
junior research groups in application-driven basic mathematical research, in order to

real complex systems and build bridges to possible fields of application. He or she has
experience in the scientific orientation, acquisition and/or implementation of third-party
Dissertation in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or related disciplines.
