Persistent and mobile organic contaminants can severely affect the quality of water, environmental and human health. Knowledge on their occurrence and removal options is essential to improve this situation.
To strengthen the research profile of the Department of Analytical Chemistry we are seeking at the earliest date possible:
Group Leader 'Organic Trace Analysis' (m/f/x)
working time: 100 % (39 hours per week), limited to 3 years, with the possibility of extension according to WissZeitVG. Possibility of transition into a permanent position (tenure track)
Leading of the Group on Organic Trace Analysis
Development of a research agenda in the UFZ's Topic "Chemicals in the Environment"
Acquisition of third-party funding at national and European level
Interaction with authorities and industry
Excellent PhD in chemistry, analytical chemistry, environmental sciences or equivalent
Experience as postdoctoral scientist in environmental studies of organic contaminants
Documented expertise with the LC-MS analysis of polar contaminants, preferably perfluorinated compounds
High motivation and interest in multi-disciplinary research
Very good skills in communication, teamwork and leadership
Proficient English language skills, preferably also German
Excellent technical facilities which are without parallel
