Its particular strength lies in the combination of a worldwide unique test infrastructure with extensive expertise in reliability and
validation. With more than 250 employees and students at its headquarters in Bremerhaven as well as at its branches in Hanover, Hamburg,
Bremen and Oldenburg, IWES Northwest serves national and international clients. We are looking to fill the above-mentioned position at
the next available opportunity.
What we expect from you
You have successfully completed a degree in an Engineering or Natural Sciences major or have comparable expertise. Furthermore, you have
worked professionally in industry or industry-oriented research, ideally coupled with responsibility for staff, budgets and acquisitions.
Professionally, you are specialized in geophysical site surveying for offshore wind farms with a focus on seismoacoustic methods. Experience
in the development of offshore wind farms, the performance of geophysical measuring campaigns at sea, or the generation of geological models
of the seabed is desirable. Since Fraunhofer IWES performs a variety of duties at an international level, an excellent command of both
English and German is a prerequisite. You possess refined organizational, communication, and leadership skills, a high level of self-motivation,
creativity and flexibility, plus you enjoy working as part of a team.
What you can expect from us
The aim of the group »Site Assessment Soil Conditions« is to develop geophysical methods and instruments which will be used in
industry for the planning and erection of offshore wind farms in the future and generate an added value for industry and society alike. The
primary activity of the group revolves around the multichannel seismics developed in cooperation with the University of Bremen, which are
used on behalf of wind farm developers for site surveying and in the scope of research projects for geophysical matters in offshore wind
You will take on a role with leadership responsibilities in a motivated team passionate about offshore site surveying. The focuses are on
multichannel seismics and the use of geophysical and geotechnical methods in wind energy. As team leader, you will be responsible for the
professional and disciplinary management and organization as well as the strategic and technological orientation and further development
of the team. In addition, you will also be responsible for the acquisition of new industry projects and the initiation of publicly funded
research projects at both national and European level.
