The newly founded Faculty of Life Sciences: Food, Nutrition & Health on the University of Bayreuth’s satellite campus in Kulmbach is currently seeking to appoint a
Full Professor of the Biochemistry of Microorganisms
at pay grade W 3 (minimum salary per month: 7,217 euros) to commence as soon as possible. This is a permanent civil service position.
We invite applications from scholars with an excellent track record in research and teaching. This should be demonstrated by publications in high-ranking international journals, successful third-party funding, and a clearly recognizable scientific profile. The metabolic activities of microorganisms are of central importance, on the one hand for the production and quality of food, and on the other hand for nutrition and thus human health. This professorship should conduct internationally competitive research in one of these fields and represent the full breadth of microbiology in teaching.
Active collaboration in the development of the Faculty of Life Sciences: Food, Nutrition & Health is expected. This also includes the establishment of new scientific and interdisciplinary B.Sc. / M.Sc. programmes such as the master’s programme Food Quality & Safety and the bachelor’s programme Food & Health Sciences. We hope to find a university lecturer who, due to his / her research orientation, also offers links to the faculty’s economic, legal, or social science research groups in the research fields of food quality and safety or public health. Other possible links are the focus areas Molecular Biosciences and Food & Health Sciences. Secondary membership in the University of Bayreuth’s Faculty of Biology, Chemistry & Earth Sciences is possible.
The ability to teach in English is a prerequisite for employment, as significant parts of the teaching programme of the new faculty are offered in English; international applicants must be willing and able to teach in German, at least in the mid-term.
