The Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences at the University of Bayreuth is currently seeking to appoint a
Full Professor of Exercise Physiology
at pay grade W3 (minimum salary per month: € 6,530.03) to commence on 1st October 2020. This is a permanent civil service position.
The applicant should represent the subject area exercise physiology as a physiologically oriented training science in research and teaching. The focus of his or
her work will be on the adaptation of the human body to movement, training, different diets, and environmental conditions.
Involvement in the focus area Food & Health Sciences and interdisciplinary cooperation with the Faculty of Life Sciences: Food, Nutrition and Health, which is
currently being established on the new Kulmbach Campus, is expected.
With regard to research, the applicant will stand out due to relevant publications in international journals and the ability to obtain third-party funding. Profound
system-physiological knowledge as it relates to sports science as well as a scientific understanding of training are required. Teaching responsibilities include the
introductory courses in sports physiology and training science.
The postholder will be expected to contribute to the conceptual planning involved in the ongoing development of the degree programmes Sport, Business & Law (M.Sc.
and B.Sc.), Sport Technology (M.Sc.), and the teacher education programmes in Sports.
Requirements for this position (in accordance with Article 7 and Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG) are a university degree, a doctoral degree, a post-doctoral qualification
to teach at a professorial level (Habilitation), and proven excellence in teaching. Evidence of equivalent scholarly achievement as a junior professor or in a
non-university environment will also be considered. A further prerequisite is the ability to teach in English. International applicants must be willing and able to teach
in the German language in the medium term. Only applicants who are 51 years of age or younger can be hired as civil servants (Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG).
