Full Professorship of Economic Geography
The professorship is a tenured W 3 position.
The candidate should be internationally recognized in theoretical and empirical economic geography and should have experience in the acquisition of third party funds. A record of scientific publications in refereed journals and the involvement in international research activities are expected. The active participation in one of the focus areas of the University of Bayreuth is required.
Teaching will cover all subjects related to economic geography in the different study programs (mainly: Geographie B.Sc., Lehramt Geographie Realschule und Gymnasium, Humangeographie: Stadt- und Regionalforschung M.Sc., all in German) and interdisciplinary programs.
The readiness to collaborate with researchers within human geography, with the Faculty of Law and Economics, as well as with regional organizations, is as important as an active cooperation in the development of international cooperation and exchange programs.
Requirements for this position (in accordance with Article 7 and Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG) are a university degree, a doctoral degree, proven excellence in teaching and a post-doctoral qualification to teach at a professorial level (Habilitation). Alternatively evidence of equivalent scholarly achievement for example as a junior professor or in a non-university environment will also be considered. The ability to teach in English is expected. Only applicants who are 51 years of age or younger can be hired as civil servants (Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG).
