The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences invites applications for the position of a
Full Professor (W3) of Ecology of Tropical Agricultural Systems
at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences in the Tropics (Hans-Ruthenberg-Institute) to be filled in summer semester 2018.
The successful candidate is expected to teach Ecology of Tropical Agricultural Systems in English and German in the graduate and post-graduate study programs of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct innovative research on plant and animal communities, interaction networks, and conservation of biological resources in (sub)tropical agricultural and agro-ecosystems and landscapes. System- and process-oriented approaches shall be applied to research interactions between biotic and abiotic system components with regard to their ecological functions. Interdisciplinary collaboration is expected with research groups within the institute and the university, as well as with key international research organizations. The candidate must have an outstanding record of independent innovative research as well as third-party funding acquisition. Practical research experience in tropical agricultural systems is considered an asset.
The position offers attractive conditions for first-time full professor appointees. Prerequisites for applicants are habilitation or an equivalent research and teaching record that may have been established during a Junior or Assistant Professorship.
The advertised position is tenured. If appointed as full professor for the first time, the University of Hohenheim reserves its right to probationary employment. With equal qualifications, preference will be given to candidates with disabilities.
