The employment occurs as a professor with an employment contract in accordance with § 102 Abs. 5 BerlHG.
It is planned to bring together and integrate bench-based research of the Clinic mentioned below into a jointly operated “Department of Immunology“. The successful candidates will be founding Directors of the “Department of Immunology“ at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. As part of the application, each candidate should explicitly state her/his vision for the “Department of Immunology“ including research topics, required technologies and strategies for career development of personnel and to present it in a separate section in the application documents.
The further holder is expected to fulfil the following responsibilities and criteria:
- Responsibility for Tumorimmunology in Research and Teaching at all Camps of the Charité
- Head of the Institute of Tumorimmunology at the Charité, including financial and personnel management
- Development of a future-oriented scientific concept in the field of Tumorimmunology
- Proof of outstanding research achievements in the field of Tumorimmunology and successful attainment of competitive third-party funding for research projects
- Experience and commitment in teaching, excellent didactic skills and willingness to actively participate in the design of the model study programme in medicine. Teaching obligations are based on the Teaching Obligation Ordinance for Berlin (LVVO).
- Integration in other relevant research areas of the Charité (www.charite.de) and in interfaculty research networks/Graduate Schools as well as research projects of the CharitéCenter 14 and the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH)
- Cooperation with the preclinical and clinical facilities of the Charité and other institutions in Berlin and Brandenburg, especially the DRFZ, the Experimental and Clinical Research Center (ECRC) and the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC)
- Consideration of gender and diversity both in terms of research content and personnel
The Charité seek to fill this position with a nationally and internationally renowned and scientifically excellent proven personality, who will structurally develop the scientific activities in the field of Tumorimmunology and further strengthen the future-oriented profile in this area.
Qualifications:
According to the higher education act of Berlin for hiring professors (§ 100 BerlHG), the academic prerequisites for this position include either a professorship, junior professorship, postdoctoral lecturer qualification (habilitation), or equivalent scientific achievement including qualified teaching experience or a similar qualification. Furthermore, a completed university degree as well as doctorate (Ph.D. and/or M.D.) in medicine and/or natural science is required. International applicants must have a German language diploma/certificate (according to the Conference of Ministers of Culture) at C2 level.
