Full Professorship (W3) in Structural Concrete - Faculty of Civil Engineering
RWTH Aachen University
Full Professor (W3)
in Structural Concrete
Faculty of Civil Engineering
We are seeking qualified applicants for teaching and research in the area of Structural Concrete. The starting date is 01.04.2020.
Apart from the basics of structural design, teaching areas include the principles and methodological approaches for designing and dimensioning of reinforced and non-reinforced solid structures (especially non prestressed and prestressed reinforced concrete, as well as concrete with non-metallic reinforcement) in various fields of structural engineering (e.g. buildings, bridges) from a technical-scientific and economical point of view.
Research focuses on the load-bearing, cracking and deformation behaviour as well as the design and construction of non-prestressed reinforced structural components. In this context, steel reinforcement, non-metallic reinforcement and new concrete and reinforcement concepts are considered. In addition to experimental studies of various scales, numerical modelling and simulation of the structural behaviour of components and entire structures including material damage are subject of research.
A Ph.D. degree is required; additionally, Habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification), an exemplary record of research achievement as an assistant / an associate / a junior professor or university researcher and/or an outstanding career outside academia are highly desirable. Ability in and commitment to teaching are essential. The application should include supporting documents regarding success in teaching. German is not necessary to begin but will be expected as a teaching language within the first 5 years.
Proofs are required in the acquisition and conducting of complex research or practical projects in the field of structural concrete. We expect a special interest in the further advancement of the institute, e.g. within multilateral coordinated research projects.
For the professorship, a parallel occupation is planned for a period of 24 months.
Please send a cover letter stating research aims and a CV to: Dekan der Fakultät der RWTH Aachen University, Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Markus Oeser, 52056 Aachen.
