in Optical Diagnostics in Energy, Process and Chemical Engineering

We are seeking qualified applicants for teaching and research in the area of Optical Diagnostics in Energy, Process and Chemical Engineering. The starting date is as soon as possible. The analysis of technically relevant processes of reactions and mass transfer in energy, process and chemical engineering relies increasingly on simultaneous measurement of several quantities with high resolution such as temperature, velocities and concentrations. Multi-dimensional measurement techniques are gaining importance. The applicants should in particular have solid knowledge on several laser optical measurement techniques such as laser-induced fluorescence, Raman spectroscopy, or absorption spectroscopy. The applicants should have experience in the application of and in particular also development of these techniques for use in energy, process and chemical engineering. The candidate is expected to cooperate closely with groups from energy research, chemical engieering and the natural sciences. The professorship is closely linked to the activities of the "Fuel Science Center" and integrated into the use of the personnel capacities and infrastructure available there.
A doctoral degree is required; additionally, Habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification), an exemplary record of research achievement as an assistant/an associate/a junior professor or university researcher and/or an outstanding career outside academia are highly desirable. Ability in and commitment to teaching are essential. The application should include supporting documents regarding success in teaching. German is not necessary to begin but will be expected as a teaching language within the first 5 years.
Experience with teaching in optical diagnostics and measurement techiques for students of mechanical engineering is an advantage. Excellent international visibility and a strong publication record are expected.
