We are seeking qualified applicants for teaching and research in the area of information and automation systems for process and materials technology. The starting date is at the earliest possible time. The chair (PLT) develops information models of industrial automation systems to be applied in the process and materials industry. It represents the field of process automation in teaching and research.
A Ph.D. degree is required; additionally, Habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification), an exemplary record of research achievement as an assistant / an associate / a junior professor or university researcher and/or an outstanding career outside academia are highly desirable. Ability in and commitment to teaching are essential. The application should include supporting documents regarding success in teaching. German is not necessary to begin but will be expected as a teaching language within the first 5 years.
The chair with its current core competences in process automation shall be established as a center for the systematic development of digitalization concepts in process technology and materials science.
Special focus topics shall include:
Automation and optimization of value chains in the materials
Information models and digitalization strategies for the
Concepts and technologies of industrial IT- and automation
The chair is expected to work in close collaboration with the chairs engaged in the materials, process and and information domain at RWTH Aachen University.
