We are seeking qualified applicants for teaching and research
in the area of water and environmental research, preferably with
emphasis on urban water management and water quality management.
The starting date is Summer term 2019. The successful
candidate must demonstrate excellent integrated, interdisciplinary
research, and is expected to establish collaborative
research networks within RWTH Aachen and its strategic partner,
Forschungszentrum Jülich, as well as with national and international
universities. This position is linked to the management
boards of FiW and PIA, and hence, the professor will be
responsible for advancing the initiatives of the "Aachen Wasser"
network. The professor will also be responsible for a new
environmental-analytical laboratory and a pilot plant, in which
research, teaching and analysis in the field of elimination of
emerging pollutants can be conducted at the highest level of excellence.
The professor will be involved in a variety of German
and English-language courses and will sustain RWTH Aachen
interests of excellent and practice-oriented teaching within the
framework of the university‘s digitalization strategy. Therefore
good knowledge of german and english language is required.
Leadership experience for comparable institutes is required as
well. In the course of the succession, a parallel professorship
with the current holder of the chair is planned for a period of two
A Ph.D. degree is required; additionally, Habilitation (postdoctoral
lecturing qualification), an exemplary record of research
achievement as an assistant / an associate / a junior
professor or university researcher and/or an outstanding career
outside academia are highly desirable. Ability in and commitment
to teaching are essential. The application should include
supporting documents regarding success in teaching. German
is not necessary to begin but will be expected as a teaching language
within the first 5 years.
