and PhD-programs fully implemented the Bologna structures and principles also in the field of teacher education. At the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Erfurt,
the following professorship is to be filled as of 1st October, 2020:
Full Professorship (W3) for Fundamental Theology and Religious Studies (m/f/d)

Area of Responsibility
The position holder is responsible for the subject of Fundamental Theology in its relevant breadth in research and teaching. In this context issues and subjects of religious studies are to be considered.
The specific religious contexts in Eastern Germany should be given appropriate consideration as well. The professor participates in the teaching of all studies offered by the
Faculty of Catholic Theology, including those for continuous education. He/She cooperates in research and teaching with other faculties and institutions of the university, in
particular, within the university research focal area of “Religion. Society. Relationship to the World”. The professor actively engages within the framework of the
strategy for internationalization of the University of Erfurt. He/She participates in the self-governance of the university.
Prerequisite for the application is a habilitation in the subject of Fundamental Theology or an equivalent academic qualification comparative to a habilitation, for instance obtained within the framework of a junior professorship.
He/She has well founded knowledge and experience in university education and its didactics, which is documented by certificates for further education and/or evaluation results. The applicant is able to participate in quality control and development of study programs of the faculty.
The applicant has international experience in teaching and/or research. He/She has the necessary skills to initiate new international cooperations for the faculty and the university.
Expected are relevant publications within the field of Fundamental Theology.
The acquisition of external funding is expected. An advantage is the proof of (successfully) submitted applications to the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, the European Research Council or other funding institutions.
Significant experience in participation in university self-governing bodies as well as in cooperation with those other academic disciplines that are present at the University of Erfurt are desirable.
The applicant has leadership qualities and experience in academic self-governance.
Expected is the ability and willingness to network with the other academic subjects at the University of Erfurt.
Experience in the area of educating teachers in schools – especially with regard to the subject of ethics – should be mentioned in the application.
Comments / Remarks
Besides the general administrative requirements, proof must be provided that the requirements for employment imposed by § 84 of the Thuringian Higher Education Act (Thüringer Hochschulgesetz) are fulfilled. Furthermore, the provisions of the concordat between the Holy See and the Free State of Thuringia of 19th November, 2002 apply.
It should be noted that, in case of an initial appointment to a professorial position, the employment is for a fixed-term only. Exceptions are possible. Further details are stipulated in § 86 of the Thuringian Higher Education Act (Thüringer Hochschulgesetz).
