We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible research and teaching profile. The duties of the professorship include adequately representing one or more of the following fields of electronics engineering in research and teaching as well as the management of the Institute of Electronics Engineering. Applicants should have a background in electronics engineering and scientific excellence in research in one or more of the following areas:
  • integrated RF, millimeter-wave, or electronic-photonic circuits and systems,
  • high speed analog / mixed signal circuits,
  • electronic circuits for high-frequency sensing and communications systems.
Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with other departments at the University, with non-university research institutions, and with industry is expected. In teaching, participation in the programs offered by the Department and neighboring disciplines of the Faculty of Engineering is required. The professor will also be expected to teach in the existing compulsory lectures and laboratory courses of the Institute of Electronics Engineering. Leadership skills as well as relevant industrial experience or relevant knowledge of implementing research and innovation projects with industry is required.
Successful candidates show an excellent academic track record in research and teaching at the highest international standards. You have substantial research experience abroad and/or international cooperations as well as experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and pertinent teaching experience are prerequisites. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are desired. The position also requires additional postdoctoral qualifications. These should be in the form of a habilitation (postdoctoral thesis) or equivalent academic qualifications. You may also have acquired these necessary qualifications in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as W1 Professor or Assistant Professor).
FAU expects applicants to demonstrate academic leadership, engage in early career development, and to drive FAU’s strategic agenda. FAU pursues a policy of intense student mentoring and therefore expects its teaching staff to be present during lecture periods.
FAU offers an outstandingly productive research environment as well as a passionate and multi-disciplinary scholarly community within a vibrant institutional network.
In its pursuit of academic excellence, FAU is committed to equality of opportunity and to a proactive and inclusive approach, which supports and encourages all under-represented groups, promotes an inclusive culture, and values diversity. FAU is a family-friendly employer and is also responsive to the needs of dual career couples.
