The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Heidelberg University invites applications for a

Full Professorship (W3) for Condensed Matter Physics (f/m/d)

which will be located at the Kirchhoff Institute for Physics. The applicant's field of work should be in the area of fundamental research in experimental condensed matter physics. Connections to the existing research areas at the Kirchhoff Institute of Physics "Dynamics of complex condensed matter systems, solid-state based quantum technology and quantum optics, correlated electronic systems, the study of the physics of degenerate atomic Fermi and Bose gases, and the study of condensed matter at ultra-low temperatures" are welcomed. Both the systems studied and the methods used should complement and extend the existing spectrum of research at the Kirchhoff Institute of Physics. In addition, there are opportunities for collaboration with other research groups at other institutes of the faculty. The Kirchhoff Institute for Physics has, among other things, a helium liquefaction facility and a clean room. The future position holder is expected to be committed to excellence in teaching and to participate to the usual extent in the courses in experimental physics in the Bachelor's and Master's programs, as well as in the Heidelberg Graduate School for Physics. Prerequisites for an application are a university degree, a qualified Doctorate, successful teaching experience and (in accordance with Article 47, Paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg) a habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship, or equivalent qualifications.
