In the case of applications of researchers in risk, the special biographical circumstances are taken into account.
The
Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites applications for a
Full Professorship (W3) for Clinical Psychology and
Behavioural Health Technology
as part of the High-Tech Agenda Bavaria at the Department of Psychology. The professorship is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible research and teaching profile. Relevant prior work in one or more of the areas of clinical psychology, psychotherapy research, ecological momentary assessment, mobile mental health, affective sensing, affective computing, self-optimizing recommender systems, or just-in-time interventions for the treatment of mental health disorders is desired. In research, the applicant should excel in competitive external funding and be internationally visible through excellent publications. The professor should strengthen the faculty’s research focus area of “Health over the Life Course” and contribute to the DFG Collaborative Research Centre SFB 1483 “Empathokinesthetic Sensory Systems”. The professor will be expected to teach in programmes leading to a licence to practise as a psychotherapist. The candidate must therefore have a licence to practise as a psychotherapist or advanced training in this area (with at least PT1 completed).
The Department of Psychology values transparent and replicable research and supports these goals through open data, open material, and pre-registration. Applicants for the professorship are therefore asked to outline in their cover letter the ways in which they have already pursued these goals and would like to pursue them in the future.
Successful candidates show an excellent academic track record in research and teaching at the highest international standards. You have substantial research experience abroad and/or in international cooperations as well as experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and pertinent teaching experience are prerequisites. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are desired. The position also requires additional postdoctoral qualifications. These should be in the form of a habilitation (postdoctoral thesis) or equivalent academic qualifications. You may also have acquired these necessary qualifications in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as W1 Professor or Assistant Professor).
FAU expects applicants to demonstrate academic leadership, engage in early career development, and to drive FAU’s strategic agenda. FAU pursues a policy of intense student mentoring and therefore expects its teaching staff to be present during lecture periods.
FAU offers an outstandingly productive research environment as well as a passionate and multi-disciplinary scholarly community within a vibrant institutional network.
In its pursuit of academic excellence, FAU is committed to equality of opportunity and to a proactive and inclusive approach, which supports and encourages all under-represented groups, promotes an inclusive culture, and values diversity. FAU is a family-friendly employer and is also responsive to the needs of dual career couples.
Please submit your complete application documents (CV, list of publications, list of lectures and courses taught, copies of certificates and degrees, list of third-party funding) online at
