The Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites applications for a
Full Professorship (W3) for Business Analytics and Sustainability
at the School of Business, Economics and Society. The professorship is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible research and teaching profile. The ideal candidate is a scholar whose research focuses on evaluating corporate data relating to finances, financial statements, and sustainability by analyzing processes, deriving benchmarks, making prognoses, designing decision-making rules, and deriving internal and external reports (also across several supply chains or comparing different sectors). We would particularly welcome a connection to current research into sustainability. We expect research to be conducted into the processing of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data using various procedures and tools from the areas of statistics, data and text mining as well as artificial intelligence. With internationally competitive research in these areas of business administration proven by publications in quality international journals in this field, the professorship will contribute to the excellent research of the Faculty and FAU in these areas. The successful candidate will be keen to further interdisciplinary partnerships within the Faculty, FAU, and beyond.
The professor will be expected to teach foundational level courses as well as courses on data analytics and modelling in the areas of finance, accounting, controlling, and taxation (FACT) in bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs in both German and English. The successful candidate will be expected to be able and willing not only to teach basic content but to use innovative teaching methods in the areas of FACT and sustainability, as well as to become involved in the international bachelor’s and master’s degree programs offered by the school.
Successful candidates show an excellent academic track record in research and teaching at the highest international standards. You have substantial research experience abroad and/or international cooperations as well as experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and pertinent teaching experience are prerequisites. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are desired. The position also requires additional postdoctoral qualifications. These should be in the form of a habilitation (postdoctoral thesis) or equivalent academic qualifications. You may also have acquired these necessary qualifications in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as W1 professor or assistant professor).
FAU expects applicants to demonstrate academic leadership, engage in early career development, and to drive FAU’s strategic agenda. FAU pursues a policy of intense student mentoring and therefore expects its teaching staff to be present during lecture periods.
FAU offers an outstandingly productive research environment as well as a passionate and multi-disciplinary scholarly community within a vibrant institutional network.
In its pursuit of academic excellence, FAU is committed to equality of opportunity and to a proactive and inclusive approach, which supports and encourages all under-represented groups, promotes an inclusive culture, and values diversity.
