Full Professorship for "Gender and Diversity" (W2)
from 01.10.2019 and limited to 5 years. This is a W2 tenure track position. In order to verify whether the individual performance meets the requirements of a permanent employment, an evaluation process will be opened not later than after four years of service. The professorship will be funded by the "Bund-Länder-Programm zur Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses." The aim of the programme is to pave the way for a secure career in academia for early stage researchers. Tenure track professors at the HU Berlin are expected to carry out research and teach, as well as be active on various university committees and acquire leadership and management skills. The professorship provides research and teaching in the BA and MA programmes in Education Studies as well as the teacher training programmes of the institute and supports the transdisciplinary BA and MA programmes in Gender Studies. The focus is on diversity regarding the theory of Bildung and school-related questions as well as on Gender Studies. A cross-sectional approach regarding the combination of Education Studies, School Pedagogy as well as research on racism, diversity, and gender is expected.
The successful applicant should represent at least two of the following fields of expertise in research and teaching:
Theory of Bildung and a social theoretical reflection of research on racism, diversity and gender in Education Studies
School pedagogy / school research in a gender- and diversity-sensitive perspective
Social pedagogy, especially focusing on the junction of school and the life worlds of children and adolescents
Development of a profile is expected in the following two areas:
Reflection of gender-specific topics and anti-racism from the perspective of Education Studies
Orientation on qualitative research in Education Studies
Active participation in the committees of the Institute of Education Studies, the Professional School of Education as well as the Interdisciplinary Centre for Educational Research and the Center for Transdisciplinary Gender Studies of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin is also expected.
The applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in accordance with § 100 of the "Berliner Hochschulgesetz".
