Full Professorship in Information
Systems: Business Process
Management (salary level W3)

The position is available beginning January 2023.
Subject of the professorship: Based on architecture models as well as process models and the corresponding modelling methods, the professorship researches the analysis, design, implementation and evaluation of information systems from a holistic, business process management perspective.
Thematic focus: The prospective appointee will be required to address current research topics of business process management, e.g. process mining, process automation and (open) process innovation in an integrated perspective in her/his research.
Methodological expertise: The candidate should apply a design-oriented approach (Design Science Research) in pursuit of his/her research and demonstrate appropriate qualifications in its application.
Research excellence: The candidate must be able to demonstrate through previous and current research work that he/she is internationally recognised and working at the highest scientific level in the subject area of the professorship. Appropriate qualification must be demonstrated by relevant publications in high-ranking international journals in the subject area of the professorship.
Teaching excellence: The prospective appointee has to be committed to high-quality teaching, be didactically competent and have experience with digital teaching methods. Candidates must possess teaching experience in bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes, as well as with supervising successful doctoral theses. The ability and willingness to teach courses in English in the bachelor's, master's and PhD programmes should be substantiated in the application.
Research perspective: The prospective appointee should establish his/her own research group on the basis of a convincing research programme within the existing departmental structures. Candidates should therefore substantiate their past success at acquiring and carrying out externally funded research projects in the subject area of the professorship.
Integrability: The candidate should demonstrate a willingness to actively contribute to the school-wide research priorities "Economics in times of radical societal-technological change" and "Sustainability", and to contribute to advancing these. The ability to collaborate at the intra- and interdisciplinary level is therefore desired.
Internationalisation: To further strengthen the international orientation of the Department of Information Systems, candidates should have the ability to build and manage international networks.
Commitment: The prospective appointee should demonstrate a committed attitude with regard to academic self-administration. This includes substantive and organisational participation in the tasks of the department and, in particular, ERCIS.
Transfer: Candidates should be able to demonstrate their ability to transfer current research approaches into practice, e.g. through relevant projects or start-up activities. Cooperation with the REACH EUREGIO Start-up Center of the University of Münster is desired.
Prerequisites: Candidates must have successfully completed a subject-relevant university degree and hold a doctoral degree. Furthermore, additional academic achievements are required, obtained through an assistant professorship (Juniorprofessur), habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), as a member of the academic staff of a university or non-university research institute, or in a research position in business, industry, administration or other relevant fields in Germany or abroad.
The University of Münster is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing the proportion of senior women academics. Consequently, we actively encourage applications by women. Female candidates with equivalent qualifications and academic achievements will be preferentially considered within the framework of the legal possibilities. The University of Münster is committed to employing more staff with disabilities. Candidates with recognised severe disabilities who have equivalent qualifications are given preference in hiring decisions.
