We are seeking qualified applicants for teaching and research in
the area of Geotechnical Engineering . The starting date is
01.10.2020. In the Bachelor`s programme, the geotechnical and
tunnelling fundamentals are to be taught and to be deepened in
the Master`s programme in the fields of soil mechanics, foundation
engineering and tunnelling in a scientific and practical manner.
The institute`s research focuses on the investigation of geotechnical
problems using analytical, numerical and experimental methods.
This includes among others: Geosynthetic reinforcement,
ground freezing, mechanical tunnelling, renewable energies, especially
geothermal energy as well as safety verifications in the context
of European standardisation. In-depth knowledge is expected
in several of these areas to continue and expand research into
safe and economical construction in and with the subsoil and the
sustainable development of geo-resources. For this purpose, a
test hall with soil and rock mechanical laboratory, climatic chamber
and frost laboratory are available.
A Ph.D. degree is required; additionally, Habilitation (post-doctoral
lecturing qualification), an exemplary record of research achievement
as an assistant / an associate / a junior professor or university
researcher and/or an outstanding career outside academia
are highly desirable. Ability in and commitment to teaching are
essential. The application should include supporting documents
regarding success in teaching. German is not necessary to begin
but will be expected as a teaching language within the first 5

research and practical projects in the field of geotechnics is required.
