Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University offers the position of
Full Professor (W 3) for Neuroradiology (f/m/d)
The successful candidate (f/m/d) will be appointed chairperson of the Department of Neuroradiology at University Medical Center Mannheim.
The successful candidate (f/m/d) should have a distinguished record of qualifications and accomplishments in all areas of neuroradiology. Regarding patient care, the entire spectrum of modern neuroradiology including interventional neuroradiology and neuroimaging must be provided on the highest level of competence. The successful candidate is required to closely collaborate with the Departments of Neurosurgery and Neurology including the Stroke Unit, the Emergency Department, the ENT Clinic and Eye Clinic, the Children's Center, the Central Institute for Mental Health Mannheim, and in particular with the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. She/he is expected to actively participate in establishing the new Neurovascular Center.
On the scientific level, active participation in at least one of the four main research areas (Medical Systems Technologies, Oncology, Translational Neurosciences, Vascular Biology and Medicine) or the two cross-sectional areas (Preventive Medicine and Inflammation Medicine, Immunology and Immunotherapy) of the faculty is expected. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching neuroradiology within MaReCuM, the restructured modular medical curriculum of the faculty.
Prerequisites for application are a completed university degree, a qualified doctorate as well as, according to § 47 para. 2 Landeshochschulgesetz, a habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship or a comparable scientific qualification as well as board certification in radiology with specialization in neuroradiology (neuroradiologist). In addition, international qualifications in clinical and basic research as well as didactic competence, the ability to lead a department and to collaborate beyond professional boundaries, and commitment to academic self-administration are expected.
The position is available permanently. As a rule, professors who perform tasks in the care of patients in a university hospital are employed permanently under private law according to § 49 para. 2a Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg. The W 3-professorship for "Neuroradiology" is associated with the management of the Department of Neuroradiology at University Medical Center Mannheim. In this regard, a separate contract will be concluded with the Universitätsklinikum Mannheim GmbH.
