Full Professor
of Public Health Nutrition
at salary grade W3. This is a permanent civil service position.
We are seeking a scholar with research experience in the field of public health with a focus on nutrition (and physical activity). Applicants are expected to represent the fields of prevention, health promotion and their importance in the structures of public health in both research and teaching. They should incorporate health, humanities, and social science influences. One focus of their research interests should be on individual as well as societal risk and protective factors, such as lifestyle, social status and life context, health promotion, as well as prevention of relevant – especially nutrition-related – diseases from an epidemiological perspective. The transfer of basic and health care research to social practice and the organization of the health care system must also be considered. The required expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods must be demonstrated by way of appropriate practical experience and qualifications, such as in public health, health management, or a related social science field.
Active participation in the Faculty of Life Sciences: Food, Nutrition and Health is expected. In addition to academic self-governance, this also includes the establishment and design of new degree programmes that fit optimally into the existing spectrum of current degree programmes. Teaching duties (nine semester hours) will be in all degree programmes currently taught. Participation is also expected in other new degree programmes to be designed. A university lecturer should be recruited who, due to his / her research orientation, can contribute to the networking of the individual disciplines of the faculty and participate in inter- and transdisciplinary research projects. In addition, there are opportunities to cooperate with other fields covered by the University of Bayreuth, such as sport science, medical management, African studies, and health economics.
The ability to teach in German and English is expected. International applicants should be able to teach in German in the medium term.
