to begin at the earliest possible date. The professorship is a tenured W3 position. The Full Professor will be appointed Director of the Department of Otolaryngology at TUM's university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar.
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Medicine, one of Germany's top medical schools in research and teaching. Close collaboration with the Comprehensive Cancer Center Munich (CCCM), the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK), as well as with TUM's engineering and life science departments and interdisciplinary research centers (e.g. Munich School of Robotics and Machine Intelligence) promote an excellent scientific environment. The Department of Otolaryngology is part of CCCM, location Klinikum rechts der Isar / TUM.
Responsibilities of the position include research and teaching, patient care in the complete field of Otolaryngology and the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert with a research focus in oncology and/or allergology in otolaryngology. The teaching load includes courses in the subject area and fundamentals courses offered by the department, as well as courses for other TUM schools and departments.
We are looking for a high-profile candidate with an international reputation, who has demonstrated an outstanding academic record and an internationally recognized research program. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected. Board certification in Otolaryngology, as well as leadership competence and leadership experience in a larger clinical unit, is required. Candidates are expected to be fully committed to conducting interdisciplinary research in collaboration with TUM scientists and relevant groups in Munich and in the greater Munich area. Moreover, candidates should possess a proven ability to establish, acquire and lead competitive and cooperative research projects.

As a rule, the holder of this professorship is not employed as a "Beamter" under German law. Duties related to patient care as Director of the Department of Otolaryngology,
including the right to bill additional fees, are to be regulated separately in a head physician contract with the university hospital's board of management.
