Full Professor (W2) in Systematic Theology

We are seeking qualified applicants for a professorship in the area of Systematic Theology. The starting date is as soon as possible. The professorship is located within the Institute of Catholic Theology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and will cover the whole area of Systematic Theology (Fundamental Theology, Dogmatics, Ethics). The applicant will be expected to perform independent research and take on teaching responsibilities within the Bachelor and Master of Education in Catholic Religious Education; the Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Social Sciences; the Master of Arts in Theology and Global Development. The Institute is facing societal challenges, which is why the applicant should have a special emphasis on the interconnection between religion and technical development as well as the interdisciplinary dialogue between theology and the natural sciences. In terms of research, the applicant is able to analyse religious phenomena in the (post-)modern society, whilst reflecting upon the changing anthropological worldview due to the influence of technological innovations and the impact of the natural sciences.
A special emphasis will be put on the development and implementation of digital learning strategies, particularly in supervising MOOCs on the international platform EdX. The professorship is also responsible for the organisation, curriculum development and evaluation of the Master of Arts in Theology and Global Development. Ideally, the applicant shows a proven record of developing and implementing new university degree courses and is familiar with the organisational structure and administration of a university. Experiences in digital teaching methods and the development of digital MOOCs is desired.
A Ph.D. degree is required; additionally, Habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification), an exemplary record of research achievement as an assistant / an associate / a junior professor or university researcher and/or an outstanding career outside academia are highly desirable. Ability in and commitment to teaching are essential. The application should include supporting documents regarding success in teaching. German is not necessary to begin but will be expected as a teaching language within the first 5 years.
The dissertation should be in one of the areas of Systematic Theology, ideally in the area of Fundamental Theology. The applicant is also expected to work as part of a team and demonstrate competency as a team leader. The willingness to acquire third-party funding is expected.
