The Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at the University of Erfurt seeks to appoint the following
professorship at the earliest opportunity:
Franz Haniel Professor for Public Policy (W3)
The Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at the University of Erfurt offers a multidisciplinary
Master of Public Policy (MPP) built on the methodologies of the applied social sciences, a strong
intercultural focus, and a practice-oriented approach. The position has received initial funding
from the Haniel Foundation, a long-term strategic partner of the Brandt School.
Area of Responsibility
Applicants for this position are required to have a thorough theoretical and methodological knowledge in the area of public policy and public analysis. They are expected to demonstrate
an in-depth understanding of the discipline, with a clear link to the goals of the Brandt School’s teaching program and research agenda. In addition, successful
applicants should possess a specialization in social sciences. An ideal candidate will be knowledgeable of the current issues and challenges of transforming,
emerging, and developing countries (the global south). In general, qualified applicants are expected to have an excellent research record,
an established network of international research contacts, experience in successfully securing external funding, and a praxis-orientation.
Candidates must demonstrate that they meet the general employment regulations and the prerequisites outlined in
§ 77 of the "Thüringer Hochschulgesetz". An essential requirement for a successful application is a
completed PhD or doctorate, a Habilitation (postdoctoral lecturing qualification) or equivalent academic credentials,
a recognized excellent record in research and teaching, successful acquisition of external grants, international
research contacts, and an international and practice-oriented outlook.
The professorship requires teaching responsibilities in the MPP program, including mentoring
and supervision duties. In addition, the position requires teaching in the Studium Fundamentale (BA) and the study
programs of the Staatswissenschaftliche Fakultät of the University. All of the Brandt School’s courses are taught
in English and we welcome applicants
