At the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics a position as
Foundation Professor for Energy System Technology (f/m/d)
(salary class W 2)
is offered. The endowed professorship is funded by WestfalenWind GmbH. The professorship is to be filled for a limited period of five years. The employment takes place as a temporary civil servant.
We are searching for a person with outstanding scientific competence, as demonstrated by high-quality peer-reviewed publications, and who is able to comprehensively represent the
discipline in both research and teaching. The candidate should exhibit special expertise in one or more of the following fields:
Methods for the design, construction, control and monitoring of decentralized, intelligent energy systems
Integration of regenerative energy sources and storage in microgrids or smartgrids as well as their networking in virtual power plants
Coupling of different energy sectors (electrical energy, heat, gas, mobility etc.)
Robust or resilient energy systems (e.g. for emerging and developing countries or for applications in harsh environmental conditions)
Socio-economic and political framework conditions and recommendations for action in the context of the energy transition
Experience in relevant managerial positions is expected, with work experience in the industry being of particular advantage, as well as experience or qualifications in academic
teaching and in the acquisition of third-party funded projects. Furthermore, participation in the Competence Center for Sustainable Energy Technology (KET), the interdisciplinary
scientific institution at the University of Paderborn, is expected.
In addition, the willingness to offer courses for the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs of the Institute for Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in German or in
English as well as to participate in the academic self-government is required. Apart from that, we expect to be actively involved in research networks at the university as well as
in cooperation with other specialist areas. In particular, highly qualified junior scientists are encouraged to apply.
Preconditions for employment:
§ 36 Abs. 1 Ziff. 1-4 HG NW - University law of the State of NRW (completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude, Ph.D. degree and additional research achievements). In addition,
the requirements of § 37 Abs. 2 HG NW - University law of the State of NRW must be fulfilled.
