ENGINEER (F/M) FOR SCIENTIFC WORK IN THE FIELD OF ROTOR BLADE EROSION
The Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Systems IWES covers applied research and development for the complete wind-power value
chain. Its particular strength lies in the combination of a worldwide unique test infrastructure with extensive expertise in reliability
and validation. With more than 250 employees and students at its headquarters in Bremerhaven as well as at its branches in Hannover,
Hamburg, Bremen and Oldenburg, IWES Northwest serves national and international clients. We are currently looking for an Engineer for
scientific work focusing on rotor blade erosion in the division »Structural Components« in Bremerhaven.
What we expect from you
You have successfully completed a degree in an Engineering discipline and have substantial professional experience or have completed a
doctorate in the field of fiber composites or surface technology. Expertise in rotor blades or materials testing as well as experience
in the performance of research or industry projects are an asset. Since Fraunhofer IWES performs a variety of duties at an international
level, excellent English is a prerequisite in addition to German skills. Your personal strengths include a high level of self-motivation,
enthusiasm, flexibility, creativity, and good communication skills. You also possess refined organizational skills, are skilled in acquisitions,
and enjoy working as part of a team.
What you can expect from us
You will work in a motivated team on the topic of the automated production of fiber composite materials in the rotor blade sector. Your
range of duties will include the development of innovative production processes in our Demo Center. The Center is equipped with ultramodern
machines and systems as well as innovative process simulation tools. Current focuses include fiber placement, the automated production of
sandwich structures, and the automated inspection of rotor blades. In addition, you will also be working in close cooperation with our
industrial customers in the field of wind energy and the fiber composite industry. Once you have settled into the role successfully,
there will also be the possibility of managing and coordinating publicly funded research projects.
Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD). Additionally, Fraunhofer may grant performance-based variable remuneration components.
The working time consists of 39 hours per week.
The position is initially limited to 3 years.
