The Translational Surgical Oncology group at the NCT Dresden is developing computer-and robotic-assisted surgical systems for the operating room of the future wich optimize the therapy of the individual patient.
The project is part of the 6G-life Research hub between TU Dresden and TU Munich. The research environment will be international, highly collaborative and involves regular interactions with the project partners. Doctoral student (f/m/x)
This full time Position is limited for 36 months.
A primary goal is immersive remote surgery via a digital twin, involving respresentation and prediction of surgical movements and interactions based on machine learning methods. The real-time acquisition and transfer will be based on novel sensors, e.g. data gloves. In addition novel interaction mechanisms via virtual reality will be researched to enable remote expert assistance.
Master's Degree (or equivalent) in computer science, (biomedical) engineering, applied mathematics or related fields of expertise
Advanced programming skills (e.g. C++, Python)
Excellent skills and practical experience in one or more of the following research areas is benficial: Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Robotics
Fluent proficiency in spoken and written English
Ability to collaborate well in an interdisciplinary environment
Realization of own ideas and employment in an innovative Team
Arranging for flexible working hours to find a balance between work and family life
Using our internal prevention program including courses and fitness in our Carus Vital health Center
Taking part in job-oriented educational course in our Carus Akademie
