1 Doctoral Student (m/f)
The successful candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team to explore the functional interactions of stem cells with their niche and its contributing cells,
for instance fat cells. In close collaborations with the scientists of the department, integrated transcriptome and epigenetics analyses will be conducted to identify
the pathways that control the function and activation of defined stem cell populations. The goal of this PhD thesis is to
Investigate the role of (adipogenic) stem cells in the pathogenesis of degenerative diseases and the Metabolic Syndrome,
Analysis of age-associated changes of the stem cell niche and regenerative processes
Skills and Requirements
Excellent M.Sc. (or equivalent) in a bio/medical research field
Preexisting knowledge in standard molecular biology methods (cloning, qPCR, analysis of gene expression), protein analysis (western blotting, enzyme kinetics), and histology
A background in metabolic research or stem cell biology is desirable
Experience using flow cytometric approaches (FACS) and/or animal experiments would be beneficial but is not required
High degree of motivation and ability to work in an interactive research environment
Excellent English (spoken and in writing) and data analysis and presentation abilities (MS Office, statistics)
The position is available for 3 years. Salaries are paid according to the German federal tariff agreements (remuneration group E 13 TV-L [65 %]).
