Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF),

The Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) is a foundation under German public law. With over 80 employees, PRIF is currently the largest peace and conflict research institute in Germany. Our Program Area II "International Institutions" is seeking

a part-time (65%) doctoral researcher (m/f/d),
salary scale E 13 TV-H, for three years (under the terms of the WissZVG)

starting on September 1, 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Responsibilities include
  • Collaboration on research projects of the department, particularly concerning questions of European security and defense politics;
  • Development and implementation of a PhD project on a topic in the above subject area;
  • Participation in the committees of PRIF’s self-administration.
The applicant should fulfill the following requirements
  • A good or very good university degree in political science or another social science qualifying for a doctorate at a German university;
  • A strong research interest in European security and defense politics;
  • the willingness to conduct research in a team;
  • the willingness to communicate research results to stakeholders in politics and the broader public.
Very good command of the English language, spoken and written, as well as competent handling of standard office software are prerequisites. Knowledge of German is not a prerequisite, but it is expected that the applicant shows a willingness acquire German language skills within the first one to two years.
