The Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) is a foundation under public law. With over 80 employees, PRIF is currently the largest peace and conflict research institute in Germany.
The Research Department II "International Institutions" is seeking to employ
a doctoral researcher
in part time (65%), salary scale E 13 TV-H, for three years (under the terms of the WissZVG)).
with a start date of 1 April 2019.
The successful applicant will:
Collaborate in an interdisciplinary research project, funded by the Leibniz Association, on the crisis of international institutions and the management of dissociation processes;
Undertake a doctoral dissertation, embedded in this project, about the breakdown of cooperation between Russia and the West in creating a common European security order;
Participate in the research of the research department, focusing in particular on the area of authority and coercion by international institutions;
Participate in the committees of PRIF's self-administration.
The applicant should fulfill the following requirements:
A master's degree (or equivalent) in political science or another social science qualifying for entry to a PhD program;
Very good knowledge of social science methods (qualitative/quantitative);
Research focus/interest in the fields of Russian foreign policy and its domestic basis;
Willingness to conduct field research and collaborative research;
Willingness to participate in the dissemination of research findings.
Very good command of English and good command of Russian, spoken and written, as well as competent handling of standard office software are prerequisites. Knowledge of
German is not a prerequisite but it is expected that the applicant shows willingness to acquire German language skills.
