Fraunhofer-Institute for Wind Energy SystemsBremerhaven
FRAUNHOFER-INSTITUTE FOR WIND ENERGY SYSTEMS
DO YOU WANT TO HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF WIND ENERGY? DO YOU FEEL AT HOME IN THE FIELD OF OFFSHORE OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE STRATEGIES? THEN WE, THE FRAUNHOFER INSTITUTE FOR WIND ENERGY SYSTEMS IWES, OFFER YOU AN EXCITING POSITION IN BREMERHAVEN AS A:
FOR THE SIMULATION OF O&M PROCESSES
Who we are ...
Wind energy is our primary focus. Our institute is home to more than 250 employees and students from over 30 countries pursuing careers in applied research and development. We achieve this with a combination of an internationally unique testing infrastructure and extensive methods expertise in the fields of the reliability and validation of wind turbines.
The duties awaiting you ...
The operation of offshore wind farms accounts for a large share of the energy production costs. Optimization of the operating concept with an aim to cutting costs
is therefore of particular interest to the wind industry. We have developed an innovative method to this end, which maps the entire life of an offshore wind farm in
detailed time series simulations with our Offshore-Times software. Wondering what exactly you will be doing? You will develop new methods and models for the simulation
of offshore processes such as vehicle, spare parts, and HR strategies, including cost, yield and remuneration models as well. The results will then be integrated in
Offshore-Times by your colleagues. Together, you will bundle your skills to address the complex matters of our customers in industry.
Bored? Not here!
Your day-to-day work is very varied, as, in addition to the further development of methods, you will conduct research to stay up to date with the latest developments in the field. Not only that, you will also be involved in different research and industry projects, write project reports (yes, that is part of the job, too), and submit research applications.
Our strength lies in our cooperation.
We are approachable, share our expertise, and offer each other support, even when the duties in question are not our own. In order to take all aspects of projects into consideration, we all work together closely, irrespective of our backgrounds.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
Would you rather head up projects and build on your existing project management expertise or explore a specific issue in greater detail? We help you to find the right career path for you and support you every step of the way.
Do you have a degree in Engineering or a scientific discipline (Diploma / Master)?
Have you already simulated complex processes? What about putting your expertise in the field of operation and maintenance strategies or offshore logistics to the test in day-to-day work situations? You're not afraid of modeling costs either? We'll be delighted if you can impart your skills here right from day one and develop them further. Your interest in programming and writing scripts will be an asset to you when developing and testing new ideas and algorithms. You will present your results to your team, our customers, and the academic community. This is not a problem for you in both written and spoken English and German. If you are interested in earning a PhD, we can create the opportunities for you and support you on your way.
Is your work-life balance very important to you?
We have a flextime and core time system which allows us to be very flexible. Would you like to be able to define your work location flexibly? We offer you the possibility of working from other locations too at certain times. After all, even though your work is important to us, we want you to have time for your family and yourself, too.
Have we roused your interest?
