Your role
In this key position, you will lead the institute in a team of two.Working together with the heads of the institute's different areas of activity (BA, MA and continuing education programmes, as well as research), you will assume responsibility for the strategic development and operational and financial management of the institute, which comprises approximately 45 employees.
You will serve as a member of the School Management and, together with the heads of the other institutes, assume overall responsibility for the strategic development of the School of Health Professions.You will also be involved in innovative research and teaching teams that work on an autonomous basis and take on tasks in the respective areas of activity.
As Co-Head of the Institute of Midwifery and Reproductive Health and a member of School Management, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Co-development of the strategic focus of the School of Health Professions
  • Strategic, financial, operational and personnel management of the institute
  • Quality assurance and development
  • Staff development and career planning for those working at the institute (especially those on PhD programmes)
  • Representation of the institute in regional, national and international committees
  • Management of national and international projects
  • Teaching and/or collaboration in research activities and in the area of business services
Your profile
For this challenging position, we expect that you hold a doctoral degree (dissertation) and have professional experience working as a midwife.You possess management experience and leadership qualities, think entrepreneurially and are committed to innovation. You know the Swiss healthcare and education systems or are willing to familiarise yourself with them.
You have proven knowledge and experience of modern teaching practices as well as current research topics and methods. As a leadership figure, you will encourage and challenge your employees, tackle challenges in a solution-oriented manner and develop the institute further in a visionary fashion together with the Institute Management team.
You possess strong communication skills, exhibit powers of persuasion, demonstrate a high level of commitment and have intercultural skills.You communicate confidently in German and English and ideally have knowledge of one of Switzerland's other national languages.We expect good networking and a high degree of willingness to work together with interprofessional partners inside and outside the university at both a national and international level.
You will be involved in teaching and/or research as well as in the area of business services, and you will provide impetus for the strategic development of the School's and institute's research areas.
With a view to the strategic further development of the School of Health Professions, we are keen to appoint a Co-Head of the Institute of Midwifery and Reproductive Health to work as part of a co-leadership team.
