The Medical Faculty Mannheim, Heidelberg University, offers the position of an
Associate Professor (W 3) for Vascular Dysfunction
in the Institute of Transfusion Medicine and Immunology. The successful candidate should have a distinguished record of qualifications and accomplishments in all areas of vascular research including the biology of organ-specific vascular niches and/or vascular control of hemostasis and inflammation. The candidate should actively contribute to the faculty’s Priority Research Program 'Vascular Biology and Medicine’ to strengthen basic research in biology and pathobiology of the vascular system.
Based on a strong record of extramural funding, he/she is expected to actively contribute to the establishment of novel extramurally funded collaborative research programs and to support existing programs such as SFB-TRR 23, IRTG 1874, RTG 2099, SFB 873, Exzellenzcluster CellNetworks and BMBF M²OLIE Research Campus. He/she should establish strong collaborative ties with research groups at other research institutions of the Rhein-Neckar Metropolitan Region such as the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) or the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).
Within MaReCuMplus, the restructured modular medical curriculum of the faculty, and under the administrative lead of the Chairman of the Institute of Transfusion Medicine and Immunology the successful candidate will take part in the teaching program in medical biology and/or immunology and in the master studies for translational medical research.
The successful candidate should have outstanding, internationally acknowledged academic credentials, a distinguished record of original research, mentoring and teaching skills. He/she should actively master the integrative task of participating in MaReCuMplus in a cooperative manner. Applications of physician scientists and natural scientists are welcome.
Prerequisites for application are a university degree and a doctoral degree and (in accordance with Article 47, paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the state of Baden-Württemberg) a "Habilitation", a successfully evaluated junior professorship or equivalent qualifications.
The position is tenured, but employment will not comprise civil servant status.
