»Restoration, Art Technology and Conservation Science«
pay scale W3; to begin in summer 2017.
The TUM Department of Architecture takes a research-oriented approach to teaching also in cooperation with businesses and
public institutions in Munich. It has an excellent reputation in architectural research throughout Germany. One out of seven
main areas of research is about conservation and rebuilding of architecture and cultural heritage. A cross-disciplinary
research network in this field will link all TUM’s academics and cultural heritage professionals.
The duties of TUM professors include research, teaching and the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an
expert in the research area of Restoration, Art Technology and Conservation Science.
Teaching duties include courses in the university’s bachelor and master program. The candidate will be in charge of the M.A.
study program in ’Restoration, Art Technology and Conservation’ and will represent the respective fields and related research.
The candidate is expected to work on fundamental issues of methodology as well as their practical application in the areas of
building heritage conservation and art collections. He or she will also need to work cooperatively and efficiently with our
several partners, e.g. the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (Bavarian State Library) or the Deutsches Museum (German Museum).
We are looking for a candidate with an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, who has demonstrated excellent
achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, according to the relevant career level.
International scientific experience during the doctoral or postdoctoral phase is required. The successful candidate shows pedagogical aptitude,
including the ability to teach in English.
Comprehensive knowledge of art history, building heritage conservation, museology, archaeometry, archaeology and natural sciences is required.
