The Department of Chemistry of the Faculty of Science at Tübingen University invites applications for the position of

Assistant Professor (W1) of Ultra-short-time-spectroscopy and Optoelectronics of Two-dimensional Nanomaterials

The position is due to commence as soon as possible.

The position is initially limited to four years, with the possibility of extension by a further two years after a positive interim evaluation. Detailed information on the criteria underlying the interim and final evaluations may be found in our guidelines for review under the following link: https://uni-tuebingen.de/en/faculties/faculty-of-science/faculty/service-downloads/#c608746

The successful candidate will be responsible to teach Physical Chemistry in the Chemistry BSc/MSc and Nanoscience BSc degree programs as well as for other courses of studies at the University of Tübingen. The position has a teaching load of four hours per week prior to interim evaluation, and six hours thereafter. Independent research activities complementing and strengthening the existing activities at the Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry and the Core Facility LISA+ are expected. Suitable applicants have internationally recognized expertise in the synthesis and ultra-short time resolved spectroscopic characterization of two-dimensional nanostructures composed from inorganic semiconductor materials. Cooperation options in established fields at the Institute of Physical and Theoretical chemistry such as nanooptics, electronic structure of surfaces, sensor technology and light-matter interaction are particularly welcome. Interdisciplinary cooperation of the holder of the position with other institutes of the University of Tübingen is also desired, for example with Inorganic Chemistry or Applied Physics. This position provides the opportunity and the expectation that, in the course of the six years of the contract, the W1 professor will attain the research and teaching achievements that will qualify him or her for a subsequent appointment as a tenured professor at a university or equivalent institution.

Required qualifications include an outstanding doctoral thesis in Physical Chemistry and internationally visible publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals. Experience in funding activities and teaching are considered as an advantage.

The University of Tübingen is particularly interested in increasing the number of women in research and teaching and therefore strongly encourages women candidates to apply. In line with its internationalization agenda, the university welcomes applications from researchers outside Germany. Applications from equally qualified candidates with disabilities will be given preference.

Applications with supporting documents (cover letter, Curriculum Vitae, list of publications and teaching experience, certificates/diplomas) as well as a teaching statement and research statement including collaboration plans, along with the completed application form (https://uni-tuebingen.de/en/faculties/faculty-of-science/faculty/service-downloads/#c608746) should be sent by email as a single PDF-file (max. 10 MB) to the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science, József Fortágh, University of Tübingen, Germany (career@mnf.uni-tuebingen.de) by March 5, 2021. Enquiries may be directed to this address.
