Assistant Managing Editor
The Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock is looking to recruit an
Assistant Managing Editor (20 hours / week).
We are looking for a highly organised and enthusiastic Editorial Assistant to join the
editorial team of the online journal Demographic Research.
The role involves managing submissions through the editorial and production process,
reading submissions, liaising with authors, reviewers, and scientific editors,
maintaining the journal‘s database and its online and social media presence. Day-today
departmental administration will also be a significant element of the role.
The ideal candidate will have excellent administrative and IT skills, a near-native
command of the English language, a keen eye for detail, and strong communication
skills. Training or experience in commercial or business management, preferably in the
media and publishing sector, would be desirable. The starting date is May 2018. The
position is initially limited to two years. Remuneration is Pay Scale 9a TVöD (the
German Wage Agreement for Public Service) and includes employees‘ benefits in
accordance with the Public Service at the federal level.
