International Scientific Cooperation supports the process of internationalization at the University by initiating new scientific
cooperation activities in strategically important regions. It provides a number of services for academics and visiting
scholars and draws upon its expert knowledge of specific countries to advise the University's committees. TU Berlin's
strategy of internationalization has resulted in a strengthening of focus on regional expertise, particularly with regard to
North and South America. Particular emphasis is being placed here on the development of partnerships with the German
Centres for Research and Innovation. The position holder is individually responsible for conducting defined projects, and
reports directly to the section head.
Central University Administration - Office of International Affairs / International Cooperation Reference number: ZUV-178/19 (starting at the earliest possible / permanent / closing date for applications 19/04/19)
Conducting country analyses and analyses of existing cooperation activities to independently develop concepts and programs for (strategic) cooperation activities with partner universities in the regions of interest (primarily North and South America)
Identifying the future interests of potential partner universities abroad
Supporting new strategic partnerships
Preparation for the conclusion of cooperation agreements at university executive level – Preparing programs for visits from high-level delegations from the regions of interest as well as from members of the diplomatic representations of these regions in Germany (embassies consulates)
Advising TUB academics concerning the initiation of cooperation activities and national and international funding
Advising academics from other countries (doctoral candidates, postdocs, professors) concerning the initiation of cooperation activities and national and international funding options
Supporting academics from other countries (in particular doctoral candidates and postdocs) to find a matching academic host at TU Berlin
Drafting reports for submission to potential external funding organizations and/or the Berlin Senate
Independently developing new concepts for foreign liaison offices, organizing their establishment and their operation in terms of tasks, activities and organization as part of TU Berlin's internationalization
International marketing (participation in developing the international marketing strategy, updating and editing the content of websites and print material)
Additional tasks as required
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in a suitable dicscipline
Excellent written and spoken German and English
Knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese (desirable)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good IT skills
Detailed knowledge of national and international higher education landscapes
Expert knowledge of national and European research funding instruments
Detailed knowledge of the regions of interest and partner universities
Project management experience
Ability to think in a structured and analytical manner, independent and structured approach to work, excellent communication skills, flexibility, organizational skills, a solutions-based approach, excellent service and teamwork skills, multitasking skills and the ability to deal with demanding workloads
Intercultural skills and sensitivity towards the interests of various target groups
Empathy, conflict management skills, ability to participate in consultative processes in a sensitive manner
