With its six faculties and its interfaculty centres, it offers a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines and internationally outstanding profile areas, supported by the administration with its services.
The Geomorphology & Geochronology chair group focuses on how physical, biological, and anthropogenic processes shape the outer skin of our planet. To expand our team, we seek for a talented candidate with in-depth knowledge of (soil-)landscape evolution across different spatial and temporal scales. You will get the unique opportunity to use field, laboratory, and geochronological data to test and develop new numerical modeling tools and to establish a geomorphic software laboratory. Although this position is primarily located at the chair group for geomorphology & geochronology (Prof. Reimann) the combination with other chronometric techniques such as cosmogenic nuclides is possible within the department and highly encouraged. We expect the candidate to establish strong research links to other disciplines within the Department of Geosciences.
YOUR TASKS
Integrating field and geochronological data to establish rates of Earth Surface Processes (incl. uncertainties)
Setting up a geomorphological software laboratory
Initiating applications for research grants
Publication of results in international peer reviewed journals
Bridging across disciplines within Geosciences Department
Building a strong teaching profile in Physical Geography
YOUR PROFILE
Degree in Geosciences (preferably associated with Geomorphology)
Affinity with numerical modeling Earth Surface Processes
Affinity with programing software codes, preferably in “R”
Strong academic track record
Affinity with teaching
Very good communication skills in English (oral & written)
Willingness to learn a proficient level of German in 2 years

The position is available from the 01.10.2020 on a full-time basis. It is initially limited to a term of 6 years with tenure option. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary is based on remuneration group 13 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
